Children’s Hospital Ribbon Cutting and Donor Event

Ribbon cutting event honoring the Karabots and their transformational gift for the opening of the new primary care center.

Challenge: Create a media-friendly ribbon cutting for the new primary care center and two locations inside the center as well as a formal program and luncheon honoring the donors all while the care center is open servicing patients.

Solution: A ribbon cutting on the front of the building included the donors, the mayor and other dignitaries. Large banners hung from the top of the building to the ground behind the ribbon cutting area. When dignitaries cut the ribbon, the banners dropped to the ground “revealing” the building.  Guests walked through the building to a tent; decorated with colorful banners and linens to compliment the building’s stain-glass windows. A large bookcase held the books guests brought with them to donate to one of the center’s signature programs “Reach Out and Read”.  The formal program featured:  performances by a community dance group, remarks by the mayor, the donors and other dignitaries,  a gift presentation to the donors by patients and a finale performance of the Play on, Philly! choir. Following the program, lunch was served and guided building tours took place.

“We hired Stockton & Partners, Inc. to assist with planning the grand opening celebration of the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pediatric Care Center, part of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s pediatric care network. I really enjoyed working with Kate and her team. We had a true partnership. Our Hospital administrators and donors were extremely impressed with Kate’s creativity. One Trustee said it was the best grand opening celebration she had ever attended. Kate and her team also did a great job expressing our brand and communicating our message.” -Lori Busch,
