Jennie Udell Named “Event Planner of the Year” by MPI Philadelphia Chapter

“Event Planner of the Year” Jennie Udell & Kate Stockton

The Philadelphia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announced that Stockton & Partners Meetings and Events, Vice President and event planner Jennie Udell has been named the meeting “Event Planner of the Year”. The award will be given to Ms. Udell at the chapter’s annual awards dinner on May 20. Jennie has been an active member of MPI since joining the industry in 2004 and has served on the MPI board of directors as Director of Sponsorship since 2015.

Ms. Udell is a partner in the event and meeting planning company, Stockton & Partners. S&P is a full-service meeting and event planning firm located in Philadelphia, PA. The firm specializes in high profile events and meetings for corporations, foundations, universities, associations and festivals. Their recent work includes Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) capital campaign celebration and opening for the new Buerger Center, The Philadelphia Science Festival Carnival, Einstein Healthcare Network’s 150th Anniversary Events and alphabroder’s 2015 National Sales Meeting.

The purpose of the Planner Award is to recognize an individual Planner member of the MPI Chapter who represents leadership and excellence in the meeting planning profession along with a commitment to the local community and an exemplary record of customer service. Preference is given to the candidate who is an active participant in the meeting planning industry (not exclusively MPI) and who has contributed to the growth and professionalism of the industry.

S&P plans “Philadelphia Block Party” Inaugural for new mayor, Jim Kenney

Stockton & Partners Meetings and Events was honored to help bring Mayor Jim Kenney’s vision for a truly Philadelphia-centric inaugural “Block Party” to life. The celebration planners transformed Hall E of the Pennsylvania Convention Center by using award-winning that food trucks providing an elevated menu of street food, beautiful lighting reflected off fabric walls creating an outdoor, evening look and a selection of seating options. Guests enjoyed the delicious food, while strolling between trucks or stopping to mingle with others. The program included Philadelphia favorites, Jerry Blavat and Patti Jackson as well as a performance by a jazz band from CAPA. The evening raised over 700,000 for the School District of Philadelphia.

Expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center Opens in Philadelphia

Under construction since 2008, the $787 million annex to the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia is finally complete, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (PCCA) announced this week.

Officially opened during a March 4 ribbon-cutting ceremony, the expansion — which is one of the largest public works projects ever undertaken by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania — increases the facility’s footprint by 62 percent. It includes 935,000 square feet of brand-new usable space, including more than 528,000 square feet of new contiguous exhibit space, 23 new meeting rooms, three new exhibit halls and a new 56,000-square-foot ballroom, all of which give the facility the rare ability to simultaneously host two citywide conventions under one roof.
